Conduct Dogging Operations

Training

Training will be conducted in accordance with the following:
AS2550.1, the National Standard for Person’s Performing High Risk Work and the WA Act and regulations as required by Worksafe WA.
Training is conducted in accordance with the AQTF, Assessment Guidelines of the above Unit of Competence are from the “Resource and Infrastructure Industry Training Package”

This course provides trainees with the theory, knowledge and practical aspects of the certificate required for competency in Dogging.

Assessment

Written theory, knowledge and practical assessment will be conducted to achieve the following:
National License to be issued by Worksafe Western Australia.
A Statement of Attainment will also be issued to the successful applicants who complete the assessment requirements of the Unit of Competence.

Hazard awareness                Personal and public safety
Fibre – knots, splices and slings            Identifying defective equipment
Hand & whistle signals                Essential calculations and math
Load assessment                Safe slinging techniques
Lifting and moving loads
Inspection of chain, synthetic, wire & fibre rope

Materials
Sling card                Whistle
Calculator                Splicing and sundries
Book                    Instrument –     Practical, assignment and knowledge

Protective Clothing
Safety glasses, work boots and appropriate clothing is required for the duration of the course.  Safety helmets can be provided.

Duration
5 x 8 hour days for up to 6 persons

Prerequisite
Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Participants are required to provide proof of On The Job Training or recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) prior to training or assessments. If you believe you have any special needs (numeracy, literacy, reading, language, mental health and physical disabilities) alternate arrangements can be negotiated with NWTIS to accommodate. Please let us know either in advance or directly to the trainer so we can help assist you.

Location: Courses able to be conducted at NWTIS premises or can be arranged at client’s requests. Price may alter depending on location
